Caitie Cardwell (They/Them) is an interdisciplinary maker Recently graduated from the Penny Stamps School of Art and Design (at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor). With a BFA in Art and Design, and a minor in art history, they continue their focus in 3D making and a special emphasis in furniture design, particularly sculptural functioning objects.

In their work, caitie is interested in how the roles and interactions of form and function can be adapted. Their creative practice also incorporates reflection on processes as well as how form and function relate to multifunctionality, mobility, and material. Over the last four years, Caitie transitioned a background in 2D mediums to create primarily 3D work, digitally and physically, and continues to embrace hands-on learning within a variety of mediums including wood, metal, ceramics, and fibers.

Outside of caitie’s creative work, they spend quality time cooking, gardening, playing clarinet, and enjoy trips to national parks, camping and hiking.
